Sarah Maree Mills is a contemporary jewellery designer based in Sydney.
Aesthetically and conceptually,the idea of duality plays a strong focus in much of her work. The sharp geometrical forms use stark contrasts of minimal colouring with polished silver to result in clean minimalism. Whilst conforming to contemporary notions of style, the stories that inspire her work are often gathered from literature, historical sources and ancient belief systems. A reverence for the past is conveyed by use of traditional techniques and materials. Each piece must be strong in its own right: wholly sculptural in design for visual intrigue even when absent of the body. Thus when the piece comes into contact with the wearer, living art is created. |
